For Ipad users:
Resources like Cengage MindTap and McGraw Hill Connect products on the Safari Web browser will only work with a few adjustments needed to the browser settings.
- Update your iPad.
Go to Settings → General → Software Update and install the latest iPadOS update available for your device. Safari is updated along with iPadOS. - Use Safari.
Open your course and MindTap using the Safari browser. Cengage recommends supported/current Safari versions for iPad. - Allow cookies and cross-site tracking as needed for Cengage.
MindTap uses cookies for authentication, particularly when accessing MindTap through an LMS such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Brightspace. Cengage’s Safari troubleshooting instructions recommend allowing cookies and turning off Prevent Cross-Site Tracking when needed. - On an iPad, go to Settings → Apps → Safari and:
- Make sure Block All Cookies is OFF.
- Turn Prevent Cross-Site Tracking OFF temporarily while using MindTap.
- Allow pop-ups.
Some MindTap content opens in another window. Make sure Safari isn’t preventing the Cengage content from opening. Cengage specifically recommends allowing pop-ups for Cengage and the school’s LMS. - Close and reopen Safari.
Completely close Safari, reopen it, sign back into your course, and try the activity again. - If you’re accessing MindTap through your school’s LMS, try MindTap again after changing the Safari settings.
Cross-site tracking and cookie restrictions can interfere with authentication between an LMS and Cengage. - Try the activity on a laptop or desktop.
Most MindTap features work on an iPad, but not every MindTap activity is supported. Cengage specifically notes that activities from apps such as CNOW and Aplia cannot be completed within MindTap on an iPad.
