Microsoft Teams is an online collaboration workspace that brings together instant messaging, threaded conversations, meetings, audio calls, desktop and file sharing, and more. It works seamlessly with Office 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Forms (online survey tool).
Teams offers easy stand-alone features where SSC employees can chat and audio call with fellow SSC colleagues and co-workers, along with hosting virtual meetings (similar to Zoom).
In addition to using the Teams stand-alone functionality, Teams can also be used as an online workspace shared by a group of people. This is great for committee work, projects, or using it in a private setting (office hours with students). With a Teams Site, team members can share and edit files, chat with each other, meet using the virtual meeting platform (similar to Zoom) and use other Office 365 apps such as Tasks/Planner to assign team members tasks to complete with due dates or Office 365 Forms to provide for an online survey.
