SUMMARY:CARLI: Digital Possibilities Series: Strategic Approaches to Transcription (Vendor Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Liz Bloodworth\, Illinois Wesleyan University\, will discuss the use of AI tools for transcription of both oral history interviews and handwritten text documents. With increasing demands on staff time\, especially in small shop archives\, AI offers an opportunity to enhance the discoverability of archival materials through efficient transcription. Liz will share tips for using AI tools ethically and responsibly\, stressing the importance of human review throughout the process.  \n\n\n\nThen\, Chris Levesque will discuss digital engagement in the University of West Florida’s Citizen Archivist Projects. During Library Week 2025 and 2026\, the UWF University Libraries hosted participatory transcription events of letters and ship logs from their Digital Archives. This effort built on the well-known National Archives’ Citizen Archivist model to engage students\, faculty\, and the larger UWF community. This talk will discuss selection of materials\, implementation of the project\, and lessons learned. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event

SUMMARY:OLC: Immersive Heritage: Rebuilding Ancient Egypt in a Virtual Classroom (Vendor Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:This webinar explores how immersive\, student-built virtual environments can transform learning in online courses. Drawing on a case study from a large-enrollment asynchronous archaeology course\, participants will see how students used accessible 3D modeling tools to reconstruct ancient Egyptian tombs and then explored those spaces together in a shared virtual environment. Rather than passively consuming content\, students became active creators—designing\, interpreting\, and inhabiting the past—while developing technical skills\, deepening engagement\, and building a surprising sense of community in a fully online setting. \n\n\n\nBeyond the technology itself\, the session highlights how immersive design can support meaningful ethical reflection. Throughout the project\, students grappled with questions of cultural ownership\, colonialism\, and the display of human remains\, using their own digital reconstructions as a platform for critical inquiry. Participants will leave with a clear\, adaptable model for integrating immersive\, creative assignments into their own courses\, along with practical strategies\, sample structures\, and evidence-based insights into what works\, what challenges to anticipate\, and how to scale these approaches across disciplines. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event

SUMMARY:Flex Course Delivery Training (Hands-on Training in Room 3127) Registration Required
DESCRIPTION:Many courses at SSC are considered flex delivery courses.  Flex delivery refers to students choosing to attend a course in-person in a physical classroom or virtually using the virtual classroom option in D2L.  It’s their choice and they can switch up which way they want to attend each week.    \n\n\n\nHowever\, instructors are always in the physical classroom.  That means\, instructors must set up their class to be delivered in both formats.  This includes using the classroom equipment and the virtual classroom tool in D2L for those virtual students.  \n\n\n\nJoin the Teaching and Learning Center for this hands-on training where we will demonstrate the technical aspects of running and managing a flex delivery classroom.    \n\n\n\nIn this live training\, we’ll cover:  \n\n\n\n\nWithin the classroom\, logging into the computer and turning on the front and back projectors. \n\n\n\n\n\nScheduling virtual classroom sessions for all your class times for the term. \n\n\n\n\n\nLaunching a virtual classroom meeting\, selecting the classroom camera and microphone and discovering ways to verify your settings. \n\n\n\n\n\nUsing the camera remote so that virtual students have an equal experience to that of the in-person students.  \n\n\n\n\n\nBest practices of using the virtual classroom tools will also be discussed which include sharing your in-class screen so that virtual students can see clearly\, using the large gallery view so you can see all your virtual students\, recording your meetings so that all students can view later…and much more. \n\n\n\n\nDue to limited seating\, please register by emailing:  ssconline@ssc.edu.  You will receive an email confirmation.   \n\n\n\nThis hands-on training will be held in room 3127.

SUMMARY:OLC: Designing Workforce-Ready Pathways: A 4T Sprint for Digital Learning Leadership (Vendor Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:As higher education continues to respond to shifting workforce expectations\, AI integration\, and the growth of alternative credentials\, faculty and academic leaders are being asked to align curriculum with emerging skills\, often without clear guidance on how to do so while preserving disciplinary integrity. This webinar introduces a structured approach to workforce-aligned learning that begins with curriculum\, not tools. \n\n\n\nParticipants will be guided through the 4T Framework (Topics\, Tasks\, Tools\, Trends)\, a design model that supports intentional integration of industry-linked learning into academic courses. Through a facilitated design process\, attendees will examine how to redesign assignments\, select appropriate supports such as micro-credentials or AI tools\, and connect their work to broader institutional and workforce trends. The session emphasizes faculty-led innovation and offers a practical pathway for translating institutional pressure into coherent\, sustainable design.

SUMMARY:D2L: Confident and Creative AI Literacies (Vendor Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Most people assume confidence comes first — that you need to feel ready before you can start creating with AI. But AI literacies are not something you stockpile before you act. They are built through the act itself. Every time you experiment with an AI tool\, take a creative risk\, or push back on an output that doesn’t sit right\, you are developing the very confidence that makes the next experiment possible. This session explores why creative and confident AI literacies grow together\, and why waiting to feel ready is the one thing that gets in the way. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event.
