SUMMARY:Promethean ActivPanel – Discover Other Creative Usages (Self-Paced Online Course) 
DESCRIPTION:Are you teaching a course at SSC and your classroom has the Promethean ActivPanel Board?  Are you looking for some exciting ways to increase engagement for your students.  Sign up for this 30-minute\, online self-paced course demonstrating various scenarios that you can use in your physical classroom:   \n\n\n\n\nScenario #1: Covers how to turn your existing resources into engaging lessons\, mark up the content\, export as a pdf.  You can then post this pdf to D2L.  \n\n\n\n\n\nScenario #2: Build lessons using the built-in templates. The Promethean ActivPanel board has several templates that instructors can easily find under the insert image option.  These templates include a Periodic Table\, Mindmaps\, Fraction Equivalence Strip\, T-Chart\, Circle Fraction\, Geoboards\, just to name a few. \n\n\n\n\n\nScenario #3: Multi-User Races.  Use the built-in timer and alphabet spinner to have two students race to brainstorm words or ideas.  \n\n\n\n\n\nScenario #4: Rub and Reveal.  Upload any image and label certain areas of the image.  An example is parts of the human brain.  Create a white shape to cover the labels.  As you teach\, reveal the labels by simply erasing the white shape that covered the labels.  \n\n\n\n\n\nScenario #4: Build a Story. Upload several images or open up Chromium to capture images from the internet.  Showcase those images on the whiteboard. Use the spinner with creative words.  Have students build a story based on the images and the words the spinner landed upon.  \n\n\n\n\n\nScenario #5: Science Lab. Upload scientific images and have students come up to the board circle certain parts based on your question you ask in class.   \n\n\n\n\n\nScenario #6: Guess Who. Upload a certain image and have students guess who it is by sliding the revealing answer.  \n\n\n\n\n\nScenario #7: Scavenger Hunt. Use the spinner tool to add certain words.  After the spinner lands on certain words\, have the students search the internet for images on a laptop they are using in class. Have students share their screens with the Promethean screen sharing tool to share their findings. \n\n\n\n\n\nScenario #8: Hundreds Plus.  Select the Hundreds Plus template (part of the many templates preloaded).   Enable multi-user mode.  Add the timer and spinner to have students circle values. DESCRIPTION:This workshop session on the D2L Media Library will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively use this robust tool for managing audio and video content within their D2L courses.  This workshop will allow instructors to practice recording a short video and uploading a video file\, then use the auto transcription feature. The video transcript that is generated can be downloaded by students as additional notes and study support. Providing transcriptions of audio and video is another great example of meeting accessibility standards for your students.  \n\n\n\nIn addition\, the training will explore advanced features of the D2L Media Library such as applying chapters to videos for better navigation\, use the built-in video editing tools for minor adjustments\, and record videos outside of specific D2L course for use across multiple course offerings. SUMMARY:Flex Course Delivery Training (Hands-on Training in Room 3127) 
DESCRIPTION:Many courses at SSC are considered flex delivery courses.  Flex delivery refers to students choosing to attend a course in-person in a physical classroom or virtually using the virtual classroom option in D2L.  It’s their choice and they can switch up which way they want to attend each week.    \n\n\n\nHowever\, instructors are always in the physical classroom.  That means\, instructors must set up their class to be delivered in both formats.  This includes using the classroom equipment and the virtual classroom tool in D2L for those virtual students.  \n\n\n\nJoin the Teaching and Learning Center for this hands-on training where we will demonstrate the technical aspects of running and managing a flex delivery classroom.    \n\n\n\nIn this live training\, we’ll cover:  \n\n\n\n\nWithin the classroom\, logging into the computer and turning on the front and back projectors. \n\n\n\n\n\nScheduling virtual classroom sessions for all your class times for the term. \n\n\n\n\n\nLaunching a virtual classroom meeting\, selecting the classroom camera and microphone and discovering ways to verify your settings. \n\n\n\n\n\nUsing the camera remote so that virtual students have an equal experience to that of the in-person students.  \n\n\n\n\n\nBest practices of using the virtual classroom tools will also be discussed which include sharing your in-class screen so that virtual students can see clearly\, using the large gallery view so you can see all your virtual students\, recording your meetings so that all students can view later…and much more. \n\n\n\n\nDue to limited seating\, please register by emailing:  ssconline@ssc.edu.  You will receive an email confirmation.   \n\n\n\nThis hands-on training will be held in room 3127.
