SUMMARY:OLC: Immersive Heritage: Rebuilding Ancient Egypt in a Virtual Classroom (Vendor Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:This webinar explores how immersive\, student-built virtual environments can transform learning in online courses. Drawing on a case study from a large-enrollment asynchronous archaeology course\, participants will see how students used accessible 3D modeling tools to reconstruct ancient Egyptian tombs and then explored those spaces together in a shared virtual environment. Rather than passively consuming content\, students became active creators—designing\, interpreting\, and inhabiting the past—while developing technical skills\, deepening engagement\, and building a surprising sense of community in a fully online setting. \n\n\n\nBeyond the technology itself\, the session highlights how immersive design can support meaningful ethical reflection. Throughout the project\, students grappled with questions of cultural ownership\, colonialism\, and the display of human remains\, using their own digital reconstructions as a platform for critical inquiry. Participants will leave with a clear\, adaptable model for integrating immersive\, creative assignments into their own courses\, along with practical strategies\, sample structures\, and evidence-based insights into what works\, what challenges to anticipate\, and how to scale these approaches across disciplines. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event

SUMMARY:CARLI: Digital Possibilities Series: Strategic Approaches to Transcription (Vendor Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Liz Bloodworth\, Illinois Wesleyan University\, will discuss the use of AI tools for transcription of both oral history interviews and handwritten text documents. With increasing demands on staff time\, especially in small shop archives\, AI offers an opportunity to enhance the discoverability of archival materials through efficient transcription. Liz will share tips for using AI tools ethically and responsibly\, stressing the importance of human review throughout the process.  \n\n\n\nThen\, Chris Levesque will discuss digital engagement in the University of West Florida’s Citizen Archivist Projects. During Library Week 2025 and 2026\, the UWF University Libraries hosted participatory transcription events of letters and ship logs from their Digital Archives. This effort built on the well-known National Archives’ Citizen Archivist model to engage students\, faculty\, and the larger UWF community. This talk will discuss selection of materials\, implementation of the project\, and lessons learned. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event

SUMMARY:Inside Higher Education: Who Owns Career Readiness? The Evolving Role of Faculty in Student Success (Vendor Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Career readiness is increasingly central to how students—and society—judge college ROI\, but the pathways from classroom learning to workforce success are only becoming more complex. In response\, institutions have done much to push career readiness efforts beyond the career center proper. But many still struggle to build buy-in from faculty as partners in this dimension of student success. And even where faculty are buying in\, they may lack the expertise to truly help students prepare for careers across sectors. Adding to the complexity\, AI is rapidly transforming workplace expectations\, with employers seeking new combinations of technical and human skills.   \n\n\n\nThis webcast discussion will draw on data\, case studies and expert insights to explore how institutions can promote and support faculty engagement in career preparation; what today’s students need most; and how colleges can create stronger connections between academic learning and postgraduate outcomes. \n\n\n\nCan’t attend the webcast? You should still register—all registrants will receive a recording of the webcast and a copy of the presentation slides. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event

SUMMARY:CARLI: Digital Possibilities Series: Meet the Chicago Collections Consortium and Revs Institute(Vendor Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:The Chicago Collections Consortium (CCC) is a membership organization of 60+ institutions composed of public and private universities\, public libraries\, special libraries\, museums\, and other repositories with collections that chronicle the rich history of Chicago. Its portal\, EXPLORE Chicago Collections\, is its flagship initiative\, providing “one stop shopping”: a site for researchers\, teachers\, students\, and the public to find digital images and locate archival holdings on Chicago topics without searching individual institutions’ online catalogs one at a time. Founded in 2012 with twelve governing members\, CCC has since grown to 60+ members. Ellen Keith\, Executive Director\, will discuss the portal\, the organization’s other outreach activities\, and the organization’s next steps in its second decade. \n\n\n\nRevs Institute will share how they are embracing emerging technologies and digital dissemination to expand access\, enhance discovery\, and preserve specialized knowledge.  Arthur Carlson\, Director of Archives and Research Center – Revs Institute\, will highlight current projects at Revs Institute including a machine learning metadata generation project\, the development of a specialized large language learning model to support research\, and efforts to document and share specialized at-risk knowledge and share that with the world. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event

SUMMARY:The Chronicle of Higher Education: The New Student "Swirl" (Vendor Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:The “student swirl” — a pattern of undergraduates moving among institutions before earning a degree — has been part of higher-ed conversations for more than a decade. But today’s swirl looks different. It now encompasses a far broader population: adult learners returning after years away from college\, dual-enrollment students earning college credit before they finish high school\, and working adults seeking short-term certificates rather than degrees. \n\n\n\nAccording to the National Student Clearinghouse\, transfer enrollment grew 4.4 percent in the fall of 2024 alone\, and the lines between “traditional” and “nontraditional” students have blurred to the point where the old categories barely hold. \n\n\n\nThat puts real pressure on institutions built around a linear model. The question isn’t whether the swirl is real. It’s whether your institution is ready for it. \n\n\n\nJoin us on Thursday\, July 9\, at 2 p.m. ET to hear from a panel of administrators representing a range of institutions on what’s actually working. Whether you’re navigating stop-outs\, transfer spikes\, or a growing cohort of adult learners\, this forum will offer candid perspectives on adapting to a student body that no longer moves in a straight line. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event

DESCRIPTION:Navigate the rise of “artificial instructors” in online education through an instructional designer’s lens in this Best-in-Track presentation. As campuses become AI literate (but not necessarily fluent)\, the role of the instructional designer is evolving dramatically. Drawing from real faculty collaborations\, this session explores the humorous and insightful experiences of supporting faculty who use AI for online content development—and the difficult conversations needed to maintain quality while leveraging AI’s potential. \n\n\n\nDiscover two complementary frameworks that transform AI from a shortcut into a strategic partner. The INQUIRY Framework provides structured guidance for students and teachers navigating AI collaboration through seven strategic stages. The Amplification of Critical Thinking Framework addresses a fundamental truth: AI amplifies what you bring to it—clarity or vagueness\, critical thinking or shortcuts\, excellence or problems. Together\, these frameworks tackle four critical challenges: making learner thinking visible\, teaching critical AI collaboration\, reducing workload spent policing AI\, and creating authentic AI-augmented assignments. Participants will reflect upon real-world scenarios\, practice proven AI prompting techniques\, and draft AI transparency statements tailored to their institutional or organizational needs. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event

SUMMARY:SSC Federal Accessibility Training for Staff and Faculty (Online Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Beginning April 24\, 2026\, a new federal accessibility mandate requires that all state and local government digital content  (including websites\, mobile apps\, PDFs\, documents\, emails\, slide decks\, forms\, videos\, and online services) must fully comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. This requirement applies to South Suburban College. To help the campus prepare\, the SSC Accessibility Taskforce has requested that the Teaching and Learning Center provide basic training.    \n\n\n\nThis hands‑on session will introduce faculty and staff to the built‑in accessibility features within Microsoft Office\, including Word\, PowerPoint\, Excel\, and Outlook\, to ensure that documents\, presentations\, and communication are accessible to all learners and colleagues.  \n\n\n\nAdditionally\, we’ll dig into the nuts and bolts of making instructional material accessible as well.  You’ll learn how to apply universal design for learning (UDL) principles to your writing\, documents and media\, along with showcasing tools available to help you make that possible. \n\n\n\nRegister for this Event  \n\n\n\nInterested in learning more about the federal accessibility mandate?
